While the underlying soil type, vine age and elevage is virtually the same, Le Cotelin hails from a more ‘solar’ South East facing exposure and presents a fascinating contrast to the North West Facing La Montee de Saint Romble cuvee. Not surprisingly, there is more concentration and creamy depth to Le Cotelin but it retains its lemon freshness and classic Sancerre zing quite beautifully. This will develop well over the next decade and we’d recommend trying with richer cuisine fish in cream sauce. Another cuvée showcasing the remarkable increase in quality at this now fully organic domaine, highlighting Julien and Clement Raimbault’s super-patient approach with the vines and wines under their care.
